Flow Audiobooks — Support
Everything you need to get started and make the most of Flow Audiobooks.
Getting Started
- Download Flow Audiobooks from the App Store and open the app.
- Connect to your Audiobookshelf server. In Settings, enter your server URL, username, and password.
- Browse your library. Flow will load your audiobooks from Audiobookshelf automatically.
- Start listening. Browse your library, tap a book, and hit play.
Playing Audiobooks
- Play/Pause: Tap the play button in the player or mini player.
- Skip forward/back: Use the 30-second skip buttons to jump forward or backward.
- Next/previous chapter: Tap the chapter skip buttons. If you're more than 3 seconds into a chapter, the previous button restarts the current chapter first.
- Adjust speed: Tap the speed button to cycle through 9 presets (0.5x to 3.0x).
- Scrub: Drag the progress slider to jump to any position in the book.
- Mini player: When you navigate away from the player, a compact mini player appears above the tab bar for quick access.
Library Management
- Filter: Switch between All, Recently Added, In Progress, and Finished views.
- Sort: Order by title, author, recently added, or in-progress status.
- Grid or list view: Toggle between a 2-column grid and a compact list layout.
- Search: Tap the search icon on the Favorites tab to search by title or author.
Favorites & Categories
- Add a favorite: From the player menu, tap "Add to Favorites." Favorited books appear in the dedicated Favorites tab.
- Create a category: Go to the Categories tab and tap the "+" button. Give your category a name, then add books to it.
- Add books to a category: From the player menu or book detail view, select "Add to Category" and choose your category. You can also batch-add multiple books at once.
Bookmarks
- Create a bookmark: While listening, tap the bookmark icon in the player. Add an optional note to remember why you saved this moment.
- View bookmarks: Go to the Bookmarks tab to see all saved bookmarks, organized by book and timestamp.
- Jump to a bookmark: Tap any bookmark to resume playback from that exact position.
Sleep Timer
- Set a timer: Tap the sleep timer icon in the player and choose from 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes, or "End of chapter."
- Cancel: When a timer is active, tap the timer icon again to cancel it.
- End of chapter: Flow will fade out the audio when the current chapter finishes — no mid-sentence cutoffs.
Offline Downloads
- Download a book: On the audiobook detail page, tap the download button. Flow downloads all chapters.
- Track progress: A progress indicator shows completed tracks and overall download percentage.
- Manage storage: Go to Settings > Downloads to see storage usage and remove downloaded content.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to use Flow Audiobooks?
You need an Audiobookshelf server with audiobook content and an Audiobookshelf account. Flow connects to your server to stream and download audio. The app requires iOS 17.0 or later.
Can I listen without an internet connection?
Yes. Download audiobooks over Wi-Fi first, then listen offline anywhere. Your progress will sync back to your Audiobookshelf server when you reconnect.
Why can't Flow connect to my server?
Make sure your Audiobookshelf server is running and accessible from your device. Double-check the server URL, username, and password in Settings.
Does my progress sync across devices?
Yes. Flow reports playback progress back to your Audiobookshelf server, so your position stays in sync across all devices connected to the same server.
